After 9 months of bargaining, SEIU Local 3 Engineers at @OmniHotels Boston Hotel at the Seaport have ratified a first collective bargaining agreement! Our members made this contract happen through their direct action which put pressure on Omni to offer a deal that paid union building engineer wages. As a result of a wage adjustment, our members will receive an initial raise of between $2/hour and $7.75/hour depending on experience, classification, and pre-contract pay rate. Those increases equate to initial raises of between 5% and 22%. Our members will also receive a ratification bonus equaling 93 cents for every hour worked since September 1, 2022. Years 2 and 3 of the contract include yearly increases of 3.5% to the base rate. In addition to the above economic increases, the contract also includes comprehensive articles on Union Shop; Workweek and Overtime; Health and Welfare; Paid Time Off (PTO); Premium Pay; Special Benefits; Job Posting and Bidding; Coffee Break; Discipline; Bereavement; Holidays; Seniority; Working Out of Classification; Grievance and Arbitration; Union Access; and Uniforms and Dress Code, among other articles. This is a first contract to feel proud of!
