LOCAL 3 MCCA RALLY LETTER 8 14 19Click image to view & download!Local 3 provides the essential services to convention trade show vendors: building up and taking down convention facilities, building out all communications and media, engineering and digital systems, and maintaining the Convention Center’s building systems.

Local 3 members under contract at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) have been without a new collective bargaining agreement for 13 months. Despite our best efforts, negotiations have stagnated.

The Boston Convention and Expo and the Hynes (collectively, the MCCA) served 800,000 convention goers in 2018 that brought $870,000,000 in economic impact to Boston and Massachusetts.

We are proud of our work and honored to work at the best convention centers in the industry, however we need a fair contract, with fair wages and benefits. So far, the Authority has failed to meet our reasonable demands. In fact, they want healthcare concessions that will reduce take-home pay, in real dollars, for almost 50% of the bargaining unit.

  • How do we build power in ways that address the immediate needs of working people while also advancing the labor movement in the long term?
  • How do we overcome policies and laws that make organizing and building a labor movement extremely difficult?
  • And, finally, how do we build solidarity across differences
